Earth is like a “camp.” (temporary life)

And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Seeing the Invisible

Life is short compared to eternity.

Our spirit and soul is eternal, but our body is temporary.

Our body is “our earthly house,” a “tent.” (temporary house)

[ Assurance of the Resurrection ] For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 17 Sanctify [i] (set it apart) them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world.

The Holy Spirit is the camp “Counselor.”

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit–the Father will send Him in My name–will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.

We are here to build our spirit (build character) for the next life.

“So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
Acts 20:32

For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.

Life on earth is training for the next life in heaven and on the new earth.

All Things Made New
Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away.
Revelation 21:1

Believers are “kings and priests” in training.

The spiritually mature in Christ are “kings and priests”

and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Revelation 1:6

The “kings” will “bring their glory and honor into” the new Jerusalem.

The Glory of the New Jerusalem
But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. ²³ The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. ²⁴ And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it. ²⁵ Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). ²⁶ And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. ²⁷ But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
Revelation 21:22

Glory and honor is obtained through the wisdom of God.

Get wisdom! Get understanding!
Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.

Love her, and she will keep you.
⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.

A crown of glory she will deliver to you.”

The character you build in this life is for eternity.

Run your race.

The Race of Faith
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, ² looking unto Jesus, the ^[a]author (originator) and ^[b]finisher (perfector) of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Striving for a Crown
Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may ^[i]obtain (win) it. ²⁵ And everyone who competes for the prize ^[j] is temperate (exercises self-control) in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. ²⁶ Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. ²⁷ But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified.
