Engage with Christ

Believers are “betrothed,” spiritually “engaged” to Christ.

For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
2 Corinthians 11:2

It’s all about a relationship with Jesus.
We are not to “engage” with “The woman.”

“The woman” = “BABYLON THE GREAT = THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS

The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written:
MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,
THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS
AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS

OF THE EARTH.
Revelation 17:5

Undefiled

The 144k are “not defiled with women.”
This could also mean spiritual adultery with harlots.

the hundred and forty-four thousand who were redeemed from the earth. 4 These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins.
Revelation 14:3

Those who are of the 144k and are married keep their “bed undefiled.”

Physically, they are faithful to their spouse.
Spiritually, they are faithful to Jesus.

Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge.
Hebrews 13:4

Harlots

Spiritual harlotry = spiritual adultery

“he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her
But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,” He says, “shall become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
1 Corinthians 6:15

The Wiles of a Harlot
My son, keep my words,

And treasure my commands within you.
2 Keep my commands and live,
And my law as the apple of your eye.
3 Bind them on your fingers;
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,”
And call understanding your nearest kin,
5
That they may keep you from the immoral woman,

From the seductress who flatters with her words.

The Crafty Harlot
6 For at the window of my house

I looked through my lattice,
7 And saw among the simple,
I perceived among the youths,
A young man devoid of understanding,
8 Passing along the street near her corner;
And he took the path to her house
9 In the twilight, in the evening,
In the black and dark night
10 And there a woman met him,
With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart.

11 She was loud and rebellious,
Her feet would not stay at home.
12 At times she was outside, at times in the open square,

Lurking at every corner.
13 So she caught him and kissed him;
With an impudent face she said to him:
14 “I have peace offerings with me;
Today I have paid my vows.
15 So I came out to meet you,
Diligently to seek your face,
And I have found you.
16 I have spread my bed with tapestry,
Colored coverings of Egyptian linen.
17 I have perfumed my bed
With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.

18 Come, let us take our fill of love until morning;
Let us delight ourselves with love.
19 For my husband is not at home;
He has gone on a long journey;
20 He has taken a bag of money with him,
And will come home on the appointed day.”

21 With her enticing speech she caused him to yield,
With her flattering lips she seduced him.

22 Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter,
Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks,
23 Till an arrow struck his liver.
As a bird hastens to the snare,
He did not know it would cost his life.

24 Now therefore, listen to me, my children;
Pay attention to the words of my mouth:
25 Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways,
Do not stray into her paths;
26 For she has cast down many wounded,
And all who were slain by her were strong men.
27 Her house is the way to hell,
Descending to the chambers of death.
Proverbs 7

A spiritual harlot tries to seduce you and steal your time with Jesus.
She wants you to “engage” or “commit” your love to her.
She wants your “love.” (attention, adoration)

She tries to seduce and tempt through:
TV, music, movies, social media, internet, addictions, obsessions, idolatry, false religions, false beliefs, gossip, lying, spreading rumors, etc.

walk circumspectly (carefully)…as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

See then that you walk [e] circumspectly (carefully), not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:15

Sanctify (Set It Apart)

“The woman,” “that great city” (or countries) influences the whole world through her cult-ure (media, music, food, etc).

“the woman…is that great city”

And the woman whom you saw is that great city which reigns over the kings of the earth.”
Revelation 17:18

Christ and the church:

He might sanctify (set it apart) and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.

Marriage—Christ and the Church
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might [g] sanctify (set it apart) and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.
29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church. 30 For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones. 31 “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33 Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Ephesians 5:25

A Relationship with Jesus

Jesus wants a relationship with us.
He wants to come into our hearts and “dine” with us.

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.
Revelation 3.20

He wants us to “engage” our time with Him in His word, not in the world.

Jesus also warned us that “[y]ou cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons.”

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.
1 Corinthians 10:21

“The woman” wants you to “drink” from her “golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication.”

6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.
Revelation 17:4

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Romans 10:17

When you put your faith in “the woman” who influences the entire world and what the world promises, you are “engaging” with her and “dis-engaging” with God.

Overcomers

Those with faith in Christ are overcomers.

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
1 John 5:4

Jesus kept emphasizing that those who “overcome” will be rewarded.

“You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.
1 Corinthians 10:21

“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God.”

For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;
1 Corinthians 3:19
