Slander:
Defame, smear
False statements (lies) that damage a person’s reputation

Lying about and slandering people are as bad as hitting them with a club, or wounding them with an arrow, or stabbing them with a sword.

Hatred is the root of slander[l]

Quote on Slander

What man ever openly apologizes for slander? It is not so much a feeling of slander as it is that of a massive lie, a misdeed not only to the slandered but also to those manipulated in the process. He has made them all, every one, his enemies, thereupon he is so overwhelmed with guilt that he will deny it until his grave.”

The Difference Between
Gossip & Slander & Testimony

by SoSpression (link)

"Gossip and slander are very serious sins."
"It's a spiritual form of murder."

Gossip and slander are very serious sins
. Words are spiritual
, and gossip comes from the desire to assassinate, i.e. kill a person spiritually. Its a spiritual form of murder.

He who hates, disguises it with his lips,
And lays up deceit within himself;
25 When he speaks kindly, do not believe him,
For there are seven abominations in his heart;
26 Though his hatred is covered by deceit,
His wickedness will be revealed before the assembly.
Proverbs 26.24-26

[The Second Thing God Hates:]
"spreading lies and rumors
"

Proverbs 6.17 TPT

Seven Things God Hates

There are six evils God truly hates
and a seventh that is an abomination to him:
17 Putting others down while considering yourself superior,
spreading lies and rumors,
spilling the blood of the innocent,
18 plotting evil in your heart toward another,
gloating over doing what’s plainly wrong,
19 spouting lies in false testimony,
and stirring up strife between friends.
These are entirely despicable to God!
Proverbs 6.16-19 TPT

What’s the Power of a Testimony?

A testimony is one of the most powerful ways to effectively overcome the devil that is trying to accuse you. It’s one of the 3 things that make a way for the Kingdom of God and Christ to gain ground in the world.

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
Revelations 12.10-11

What’s the Difference between a Gossip and a Testimony?

Gossip is based in pride, lies, murder, mischief, deceit, and discord.
Testimony is based in sacrifice, honesty, and selflessness.

A gossip tells lies or unverifiable information about someone else.
An honest testimony tells truth, and talks firsthand, about what happened to them or what they saw.

A gossip or slander talks to kill others.
An honest testimony talks to save others.

A gossip speaks in anger, for self.
An honest testimony speaks in love, to set others free from deception.

A gossip is partial to those who are rich and powerful, and can help them.
An honest testimony speaks in favor of the truth even if it hurts themselves.

Here are a few Scriptures from Leviticus that Illustrate the Balance and God’s Heart in the Matter

Be fair, no matter who is on trial—don’t favor either the poor or the rich.
16 Don’t be a gossip, but never hesitate to speak up in court, especially if your testimony can save someone’s life.
17 Don’t hold grudges. On the other hand, it’s wrong not to correct someone who needs correcting.
18 Stop being angry and don’t try to take revenge. I am the Lord, and I command you to love others as much as you love yourself.
Leviticus 19.15-18 CEV

Prayer

Dear God,

Please help me not to slander other people’s reputation
I don’t want to hurt others and myself
Thank you God. In Jesus’ name Amen

For with the same measure that you use,
it will be measured back to you.

Luke 6.38

Remove falsehood and lies far from me
Proverbs 30.8

But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him
